So No Head?

Aiylah wants to keep this dudes head??

She just goes and whittles a likeness of the head

We go and finish our long rest

We get back on the road again

There is a breeze through this small valley

The second outpost comes upon us around lunch time

Guarded in the same way as the first, a couple people on the ground and on the balcony

Jojo says hello

Jojo asks about Crowcairn Monastery and where it would be from here

He doesnt have a direct map, but he has some vague instructions to direct us

He also asks about the earthquakes

They have been getting more intense and more common, used to be every month now its every week. More rocks are falling and blocking trails. They come with this like feeling that the outpost shakes almost like a strong wind, not necessarily the earth shaking

Says it should be a windy trail, maybe about 1.5-2 days travel

We cant take the cart, its too narrow

Eofos takes one of the horses to ride on the trail up lol

We make our way behind the outpost and on the trail he showed us

We are making our way up the ridge, its very steep and hatch backing a lot

Its a single file kind of journey along this trail

Eofos sees something sticking out behind some rocks, a cork popping up

Eofos dismounts and checks it out, seems like a liter sized bottle

Eofos call Aiylah over to check on it, its not poisonous

Eofos grabs the bottle

A note on the neck of the bottle says:

"To Aloysius and Montag may you find this after I am gone, Principia"

The label on the bottle is called first blush from a winery called Eversmead

Jojo recognizes Eversmead, its a winery that closed in 640 AT during the shadow outbreak.

Something from this winery is quite expensive now.

We decide to either keep it as a favor to give or as a celebratory drink later on

Aiylah sends her raven up to scout out, doesnt see anything dangerous, but can spot a building in the distance

Eofos takes the bottle

We continue on our way

As we are walking through the afternoon, its coming into the evening

We are a bit higher up so the sun lasts a little longer

We get to a point where we feel like the cliffs edge is getting a bit further away and are getting to more stable land.

We get into a overlook where we can see the southern part of the mountains, the pass, maybe even the ocean in the far distance

Looking across the pass though, we can spot in the mountains a gigantic stone throne carved into the mountains, it must be 100 feet tall

It has been a proposed rumor among the Fellowship where its only big enough for a giant. People have inspected it but havent found anything. It was probably from pre Totality era

We keep on and find a sort of overhang from some rocks that offers enough protection from the elements.

Aiylah keeps talking about this damn head lol he gets the idea that there isnt really much to it, she just kinda wants a head

Eadith sneaks away from the camp for a bit.... Eofos notices but lets her go

Eadith casts sending to one of her cult members she travelled to Londeithel with

"Are you alive, its a friend, Fuck okay its Eadith please respond"

Doesnt get to the first member, tries to another, but also doesnt make it.

Tries again to a third member, but it doesnt go through.

She sits and thinks for a while before coming back.

Eofos talks with Eadith about the Cult of the Dragon members from the morning

Good morninggggg

We make another good survival check

We are heading further into the mountain range than on the cliffs anymore

A lot of the climb is uphill here

Eofos spots something

Something on the ground and shimmering light at us

He calls it out and Jojo goes to investigate

The sun was glinting off a massive Black Dragon scale...

Its like the size of our heads

There are no messed up earth around here as though the dragon came down here, but can see maybe 30 feet up the way we are headed, there are 2 more, as though a path has been left parallel to the trail we are on.

We should be careful going forward, who knows if the dragon is near now

Aiylah will be looking through Thrynn as we travel to scout ahead

Thrynn sees some more that are in a tree ahead, some are cracked on the ground. Some sticking nose down into the dirt.

We keep going, theres a curve in the path that diverges eventually from the dragon scales.

Dont see any burn marks anywhere, but some smaller trees have been pushed over by some kind of wind or force. Doesnt look like a dragon landed here.

Eadith tells us that dragons can willing shed some scales rather than just naturally shedding their skin.

We continue on

Thrynn doesnt see it, but we feel it, the ground rumbles beneath our feet

We see a landslide coming for us and only some of us can get out of the way

Eofos's horse and Steven The Steed fail, getting slammed by some rocks

The horse is starting to freak out a bit, but has survived the hit

Through the settling dust, a couple creatures begin to appear through the dust

2 rock individuals fully made of stone crawling out of the rubble

A creature with these large tentacles has also erupted from the ground, its a Balhannoth!

Jojo runs headfirst into combat and batters this thing

The Balhannoth appears next to Eofos and Aiylah and slams them with attacks, grappeling them

Eofos casts Otto's Irresistible Dance on the big guy as he starts to dance around

He just keeps hitting Eofos though lol

The boulder guys are rolling around and slamming into Eadith and Jojo

The Balhannoth then disappears with us in its grasp lol and teleports us up the hill

Eofos blows into his Pipes of Haunting and spooks some enemies

Then he just disappears from existence with Eofos and Aiylah in his grasp

We see the world through a kind of strange watery lens, we hear in our minds in a haunting voice, "who have brought me from my home"

It says now "It says release me from your grasp on this realm"

Eofos casts suggest to get him to drop us, saying "We are just as surprised as you are that you're here. If you put us down we can send you home."

He puts us down hesitantly but hovers its tentacles near us still

Jojo cuts the head off the Balhannoth, its body starts to kind of deflate and black jelly goo starts to seep down the hill

We all turn and blast this rock guy who is attacking Eadith

Eadith casts 4th level magic missile lol and kills it

Eofos investigates the body

This is not a naturally occurring creature from this plane, its from another

As I walk around it looking at it more closely, it seems to be seeping a magical aura away from it, slowly dissipating.

Eofos yells out "Matilde! Come back its safe here!"

After a couple minutes Matilde comes back! Jojo heals her up

We take a short rest

The trees are getting denser, we are rising in elevation

We see through the trees in the dusk light as we come over the rise of the path

The floor covered in ivy leaves now

As we near, some of the ivy has grown these dark green buds

As the trees break a bit, we see that these buds along the path in front have sprouted up, orchid like flowers of yellows and red rise around the pillars and sprouting ever so often in front of the visage of this darkly abandoned monastery
