Fargo and Fargo

Greenfast village Red Slod are all taken care of now

These Red Slod are aberrations, not natural to this plane

Jojo grabs Mayor Kara and walk her back to her home to lay for the time being

Young Fargo says he is not well liked around the town and they are going to kill him for this

We come in from the east side of the village here Not flat farmland, there are levels to this village in the mountainous areas There are bridges and layers to this town

Young Fargo leads us to the home

Theres not a ton of people out and about right now so there arent many to witness us

A woman opens the front door, dirt on her hands, wide shocked eyes, this is Yaeda

Young Fargo says dont freak out, they are going to help her

Eofos says that we are here to help her and that Young Fargo put his life on the line to save her.

On the verge of a breakdown, she is staved off and invites us in.

Well kept garden around the house, wood and homey, oranges and reds and goldens

She leads us upstairs to a large room. Where we leave her to

I catch her and Fargo share a brief look and can see that something about what I mentioned clicked as familiar to her. There is a reticence to involve us in problems that arent ours.

She looks at her sister and says "How about I make tea and we can speak more"

We are led into a sitting room and wait for her to make tea

Young Fargo hangs back a little bit and is awkwardly standing in the hallway.

Ewron interrogates Young Fargo a bit

Yaeda says Young Fargo did something that he is not proud of and to leave him alone about it

Looking around the room there are embroidery, wood carvings, little knick knacks and the such

We explain our name as The Fortune Bringers to Yaeda

She asks, theres been a pretty big influx in monsters around here lately and we're not really a village of warriors, Im a gardener and Young Fargo and his dad run the inn, we dont know combat. Weve done our best at laying low, only issues are really on the road and they dont come into the village until apparently today. Mayor Kara thought she locked up the source of it in the temple.

They thought things were coming out of the temple, it was before the Beholder came there They said they would leave them alone if they would offer gifts. but not sure the gifts are good enough. I dont think wooden carvings will suffice

There was a problem in that temple a while back, a group of people who were in there and here briefly. During that time there was an individual before that who tried to help us but was locked in the cells with us, Sir Vecken who needed to return home to Illerage. We couldn't rely on him forever to be our protector, we tried to send someone to Illerage to send for him.

We could do that!

Theres a house I kinda took over up that way to make a paddock for some horses but there has been a bunch of earthquakes and a lot of the structures has crumbled and I dont have the time to repurchase the horses that died in that.

We could help build that, help protect from monsters, etc.

They thought it was coming from the temple, but they sent someone to the west to Illerage and they didnt come back so who knows what happened or if they were attacked by more monsters.

Jomo was the name of the messenger. They were sent like 2 or so months ago.

Sir Vecken would have left about 3-3.5 months ago. So they sent after him.

We query about the inn and about some rooms The inn is called The Bulging Cauldron lol

Its a smaller L shaped building. He opens the door and someone starts yelling at Young Fargo

We sit down for a meal

Old Fargo has some roasted bugs on brussel sprouts he offers to us lol

We get a round of ales, its a red currant ale, locally made

Eadith reveals that she has been sending with Felrick

We talk about the tenet stones with Ewron who knows Bane as the Lord of Darkness Explain some of the situation of Felrick to him and see if he knows anything about the Tenet Stones

He says the last time the Defectorate Gods were on this plane there were trapped behind a powerful gate by a mage of that time in the Totality who is probably long dead now.

We ask Ewron if he worships Bane, he says no lol

Bug dish, gravy on the sprouts, the centipedes are nicely browned and layered on top.

The crustaceans are a large dish, well seasoned with a lemony sauce that pools on the plate. Its from like some sort of spider crab creature.

It is really well made! Old Fargo is a great cook.

We finish eating and Young Fargo leads us to the paddock to help repair.

We are led through some hills and to an area where Young Fargo has started to build a stable but with the earthquakes theres a lot of debris spread around.

Lots of just bits and pieces that need to be cleaned up

The person who lives here isnt here anymore, he was the reason Young Fargo got in trouble and the man is no longer here Its just embarrassing because only Yaeda and I were dumb enough to fall for it.

There was a man who came here from Illerage named Lord Fayne and was in his group called the Rote Communion and he did something at the temple and we are just trying to get back to normal now. They were fixing up the temple, a group of people that came in and there was a big fight that he wasn't a part of and Lord Fayne disappeared and Sir Vecken brought us back here, he was looking for someone, we just captured him and put him in jail.

We reassure Young Fargo that he shouldnt feel so bad about being tricked, and that he should be more confident about helping his town out.

He says he wanted to eventually use the wood from the house to help make the paddock, but hasnt gone in there since it was vacated by Lord Fayne. We say that we should basically pillage the place and check it for notes. Maybe Young Fargo can find some stuff to sell and buy some more horses in Illerage.

Eofos doesn't find much in here, it's obvious no one has been here for some time

Eadith finds the deed to the land among some other paperwork

Ewron finds some notes and books on dark mythology, dark magic, abberations etc and the books to the right collector would be like 300 gp

Aiylah finds a symbol of a distended tongue with a torn root Gaernoo is also a name she finds that sticks out on some notes. Get the understanding that this is the name of the entity the Rote Communion was built around.

Young Fargo tells us more about what he knows of this entity, he says it's more like they were there to worship Lord Fayne rather than the entity.

We get down to work

In the 4 hours of sunlight we still have we clear a lot of the rocks and rubble. We don't have the time to disassemble the building but clean this space up and prep it.

The sun going down makes the village look very pretty, this area is so lush and green and all the gardens are full up. The people here are very warm and welcoming.

We settle for the evening in the inn and rest.

Ewron stays up for some time reading his new books on the astral plane he found. Notes theorizing how to harness energy of dead starts in the astral plane or aberration creatures to fuel greater more powerful magic.

Ewron pesters Old Fargo for another ale, he says it's on the house and Ewron insists. He asks him how long he's been here, about 30 years Says he grew up in The Triangle raising horses He asks about a name if he knew of a traveller through this area, Old Fargo says he doesn't know.

Old Fargo sounds proud his son is working towards the paddock He doesn't sound like he holds much I'll will against him for what happened with the Rote Communion and the town was all very concerned around that time. They are happy to have him back but..... It's complicated Might be better if he just settled.

Old Fargo goes to sleep

Ewron goes to bed as well.

Long rest

We wake to the sound of people coming in for breakfast.

We make for Mayor Karas home to resurrect her

The spell takes hold and Mayor Kara takes a sharp breath and opens her eyes

She says she is in our debt.

She says the beholder hasn't been there very long and hasn't demanded much....yet

It had said it had wanted treasures, what it considers that to be

We leave and head to the temple to see if we can deal with this beholder.

We get there.

We go in and announce ourselves, no return

Go to where the beholder was before, he's not there

Walk down some stairs and hallways looking around for where the beholder might be

There's a larger template space with pews, altar and alcove at the far end To the right near that the wall to the outside has been blasted and crumbled with some sunlight in the alcove, eyes directed onto me

It casts something on Eofos and causes him to be stunned.

The beholder immediately casts fire Ray on it and blasts Eofos lol

Roll initiative!

Eofos hits him with the Hypnotic Pattern and holds him in place. Eofos tries to reason with him once more, but it just directs anger my way.

We blast him and kill him quick.

It was a Gauth

With the light streaming in, we wonder where these aberrations are coming from.
