Olnfield
A small team is sent by Saima Kuusk to track down the wolves because she did not believe the party's claims.. They follow their trail and find them. Gilette Selander comes back, the entire side of her face burned from getting hit with lightning breath. There are a couple others who are battered and bruised but they managed to avoid the worst of it. There were only three full grown wolves left and the pups. They did not kill the pups but brought them back to town.
A group of knights and a messenger arrive on horseback from Gadena. They announce that the royal wedding will be happening and that they are going to need a large output from The Triangle. There is an outcry: they barely have enough to feed themselves. The messenger supplants that if they don’t have the stores by the time its sent for, taxes will be raised instead to help pay for it.
Saima Kuusk tries to explain the situation; they asked for aid from the capital and none was sent. The messenger explains that he doesn’t have any say in the matter, was only meant to deliver the message.
Landow
Juniper Harvey's family are farm hands on the Russo farm in Landow. It is mostly a grain farm but does have a few chickens. They live in Landow. His sister, Meraud is a town guard.
He is only about seven now, but when he was younger, his magic had a mind of its own. He burnt down a barn and a swath of planted land in about a 30ft radius circle crumbled and died, and not so extreme but to everyone’s dismay, for two days, everyone he talked to turned violet. The effect dissipated on its own.
When the healers weren’t much help, Alexi, being the only other magic user known in The Triangle came to aid. He seemed to be the only one who was able to calm the child and help Juniper gain control over these outbursts of the arcane.
His family does not know that Alexi had moved forward and was starting to actually teach Juniper.
For years the boy had been misunderstood and no one knew how to help him; learning to use his magic could have bad results. So, Alexi misled him slightly. Juniper believes that his magic only works when he has those slips of paper. Giving that one up to Alexi, means that he doesn’t think he can do the flame anymore.
Tobias Renwald's House
Tobias opens the door just a crack. His hair is tousled, and he looks like he hasn’t gotten much sleep. Through the crack you can see that the place looks like a mess.
Inside, papers are strewn all over, notebooks lying open, displayed for all. Tobias has been going through Alexi’s notes, realizing his shorthand is the language in which they communicated when they were younger. It’s harder to translate because twin speak never had an actual correlation to everything and they never wrote it down.
“It took me a while to realize what this was because I’ve never seen a language like this, but then I started noticing a pattern. It think it’s the language we came up with as kids but we never wrote it down. And even if we had, it was barely translatable to halfling let alone common.”
Tobias is creating a key to the cipher but its slow going because he’s forgotten much of it as they hadn’t talked this way for years. He translates what he can remember into halfling. Much of it, though able to be immediately transcribed into another language doesn’t make much sense. It is past Tobias’ knowledge and doesn’t look like any spells he’s come upon before. These are Alexi’s inventions.
While Tobias was trained in the healing arts, Alexi was born with an innate magic and it had been clear to them both that Juniper had been as well. Alexi was not experimenting on the boy, but he was moving very slowly in his teaching.
With some persuading, Tobias will tell the party that Juniper is not the only child. There are many. There is something in the land that affects them at birth.
Night of Prophecy
The sun sets and the night darkens. There’s a sense of anticipation flowing through the group as you wait. And wait and wait. The night sky is completely void of clouds, the stars dazzling. Ustruel is bright in the sky, its mirror, Lunis, dimmer.
There is a loud roar, not a sound anyone has ever heard before. You glance up and there a silhouette in the sky, something large and dark. It disappears into the night and then returns. It makes the rounds a few times. And then it dips into a dive over Woolhope, the moonlight glinting off its back reflects glistening purple scales. It roars again and out of its mouth shoots a blistering stream of fire. The grass catches, flames roaring up as it soars up again. It dips again, this time catching the thatched tops of houses. It lets out another terrifying roar and disappears into the night.
In the wake the villagers are trying to stop the blaze. Its made difficult by the fact that there are 3 fire elementals in the shape of small dragons… playing??? They seem almost childish in how they act, but they are still doing a lot of damage.
